Honor God, Seek Christ, Serve Others Together

Fellowship/Shepherding

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Our Lord commands that we watch over and serve one another.  One way we at Barry Christian Church strive to honor God is through our shepherding program.  It is the goal of the shepherding program to stay connected with every church member.  Presently we’ve divided the membership into fourteen groups of about ten or twelve member families.  There’s a lead shepherd, a position that rotates regularly, who’s job it is to keep in touch with our congregation through phone calls, cards and whatever way deemed to accomplish the goal of keeping connected.   This ongoing communication demonstrates care and concern and helps to keep members connected to one another as well as to the activities and services at Barry Christian Church.  Through regular communication we learn of others needs, of where we can offer help and hope; and possibly we may be given the privilege to pray for one another.

It is our desire to include every church member and anyone for that matter who want to be included.   Together through shepherding we build a closer bond within.  If you are not now and wish to be connected to a shepherding group please call our church office and the secretary will let the shepherding leadership know to include you.  Or if you see Edna Williams or Lana Whitton at church please let them know and they will lovingly add your name to a shepherding group.
