Honor God, Seek Christ, Serve Others Together

Memorial

And this is eternal life,  that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.  John 17:3 (NRSV)

Memorial Wall and Memorials

On many levels the Bible gives great value to remembering the past and honoring those who have journeyed in the faith before us.

In Exodus 12, the Passover meal was established to help the Hebrew People remember how God chose to free his people from Egyptian bondage.  Centuries later, Jesus took bread and a cup from that Passover and declared that they were to symbolize his sacrifice for the forgiveness of humanity’s sin.  At the close of the Lord’s Supper Jesus said, “Do this in memory of me.” Even the promise of the Holy Spirit, foretold by Jesus at the Last Supper, was to reassure the believers that they could remember all that Jesus had told them (John 14:26).

At Barry Christian Church we seek to honor the saints of the church that have gone before us in two significant ways.  First, in the elevator entry foyer, there is a Memorial Tree.  Bronze leaves on the tree display the names of deceased members of Barry Christian Church whose memory we honor.  Additionally, we welcome memorial contributions for various causes that also honor the memory of dear loved ones and friends.

To receive further information about the Memorial Tree or if you wish to make a contribution in memory of a loved one or friend, please contact the church office at 816-436-0462.
